Eigen Foundation Commits 1% of EIGEN Supply to Protocol Guild

We are excited to announce that the Eigen Foundation has made a pledge to support the Protocol Guild, dedicating 1% of EIGEN supply to their members. This commitment has been in the works for a long time as previously hinted in the Season 2 stakedrop blog post, and is part of our ongoing efforts to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the broader Ethereum ecosystem.

Why We’re Committing to Protocol Guild

The Protocol Guild is a vital funding mechanism for Ethereum’s core Layer 1 R&D. With over 180 members from 29 teams, it supports Ethereum’s ongoing development, spanning client development, research, specifications, testing, and coordination. These efforts form the backbone of Ethereum’s evolution, maintaining the commons upon which the decentralized future is built.

By pledging 1% of EIGEN supply, we aim to ensure that the Protocol Guild can continue its mission to provide consistent funding for Ethereum maintainers, supporting their stewardship of the network. This allocation reflects our shared belief in the importance of a robust and decentralized Ethereum infrastructure.
