Season 2 EIGEN stakedrop claims are open!

The Eigen Foundation is excited to announce that the Season 2 Stakedrop claims are officially open! As we move closer to the unlock of the EIGEN token, this stakedrop reflects our appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by stakers, ecosystem partners, and community members who have helped shape EigenLayer into what it is today.

Who is Eligible?

As detailed in our previous announcement, EIGEN will be distributed across three main categories:

  • Stakers & Operators: Participants who actively staked during Season 2
  • Ecosystem Partners: AVSs, LRTs, Rollups, RaaS providers, and other key contributors
  • Community Members: Early advocates, contributors, developers, and content creators

How to Claim Your EIGEN 

1. Stakers & Operators: If you actively staked ETH or EIGEN during Season 2, you can now claim your rewards. Staking ensures the integrity and security of the EigenLayer ecosystem.

  • Where to Claim: claims.eigenfoundation.org
  • LRT Users: If you staked through an LRT protocol, please check with your respective LRT for specific instructions on how to claim your EIGEN. Each LRT will manage their own distribution.
  • Snapshot Date: August 15th, 2024, at 22:26:59 UTC.
  • Need help calculating your rewards? Use the S2 Calculator to check a measure of your retroactive restaking rewards.
  • Claim Window: Open now through March 16th, 2025.

Operators: To ensure a secure claim process, operators will soon be able to provide a new wallet address for claiming their rewards. A dedicated smart contract will be made available, allowing operators to securely submit their preferred claim address. This address will receive the token amount allocated to the operator address. Please do not connect your operator wallet to the claim site until this process is live. Detailed instructions and timelines will be shared soon through our social channels.

2. Ecosystem Partners: To our AVSs, LRTs, Rollups, RaaS providers, and other ecosystem partners, your contributions have been essential in expanding the EigenLayer ecosystem. 

3. Community Members: To our dedicated community of open-source contributors, advocates, developers, and content creators—you have been instrumental in spreading the vision of EigenLayer and enabling its growth. 

If you completed social verification by September 13th, 2024, you can now claim your EIGEN. 

Why Claim Your EIGEN?

EIGEN tokens are more than just a reward, they represent your active role in shaping the future of EigenLayer. By holding EIGEN, you are positioned to be a core participant in the evolution of decentralized trust and open innovation. 

The EIGEN token allows you to:

  • Have a voice in future decision-making as EigenLayer continues to develop.
  • Help secure the ecosystem and support the growing number of Actively Validated Services (AVSs) that rely on EigenLayer.
  • Earn rewards immediately by staking EIGEN, contributing to the network’s security and benefiting from ongoing rewards tied to network growth.

Looking Ahead: Programmatic Incentives

The EIGEN stakedrops were just the beginning. Very soon, the EigenLayer protocol will introduce the programmatic incentives feature, enabling weekly programmatic emissions of the EIGEN token as rewards to stakers and operators for their active participation in securing AVSs. Further details will be provided in an upcoming blog post, which will outline how this system will provide predictable, liquid, and sustainable rewards for both stakers and operators.
